Carlow Place is a residential facility for young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Young people who live at Carlow Place are between the ages of 15 and 18 years.
The staff at Carlow Place work together with the client to address their individual and specific needs. These needs may range from family breakdown, mental health issues, drug and alcohol use and misuse, large debts, legal issues, isolation, transience and limited family or community supports systems in place.
| Young people may have a number of the above issues going on in their lives and may also be first time home leavers and have limited experience in independent living skills.
The physical layout of Carlow Place includes three house on one block. A shared male house, a shared female house and the staff house. Staff are rostered on 24hours a day 7 days a week to provide support to the young people residing at Carlow.
| Young people pay board while living at Carlow Place that includes food and electricity.
Carlow Place is a friendly environment and aims to be ‘home like’. Staff have worked hard to create that atmosphere and there is a community vegetable patch, native trees, a Pergola and BBQ area to socialize and a basketball backboard and murals to help create a youth friendly atmosphere.
