Unstable accommodation, transience and homelessness can each heavily impact on a young person’s educational opportunities and future success.
The Schools Assertive Outreach Service is a free intervention service that supports young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to keep connected with education. This is crucial to minimising the impact of homelessness both in the short and long term.
The Service connects young people with further support in education, training, employment and safe and secure accommodation. We work with them until they decide to move on – a support period generally lasts up to 12 months.
Who: Young people who are between 12 and 20 years, homeless or at risk of homelessness and at risk of disengaging from education.
