The Integrated Youth Substance Misuse Specialist Service (IYSMSS) provides three pillars of care for young people with alcohol and other drug concerns. This includes Outpatient Counselling, Residential Rehabilitation and a Sobering Up Unit.
We provide an integrated model of care for young people aged 12 to 24 years of age with issues around substance misuse. Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Counsellors can provide regular counselling sessions to support your goals around changing your substance use including education, harm minimisation or abstinence. Our AOD Counsellors can also support you to prepare for our residential rehabilitation program at Alban Place for intensive, live-in, ongoing support based on the therapeutic community model.
Our Sobering Up Unit is a one-bed crisis response / acute service available to young people needing a safe and supported environment to sober up in.
We offer a five bed residential rehabilitation service, focused on providing a safe environment for young people to gain knowledge and skills to reduce the impact of their drug and alcohol use. During the eight week strength-based program, young people participate in therapeutic groups and life skills training to improve their overall quality of life. Recovery goals and individual counselling are also provided to support family relationships and connection to appropriate services to enhance opportunities within their community. AOD Counsellors will support young people prior to, during and after they are involved with the program. A weekly group is also offered for successful graduates to come back and share their experiences with current residents of the program.
We provide AOD counselling sessions from our office located at 45 Wakefield St Adelaide. Any eligible young person wanting to education or to make change relating to their substance use can access this confidential service.
We offer one bed for those young people who are substance effected to sober up in a safe and supported environment. We will offer follow up support if the young person is open to further contact.
This service is funded by SA Health through Drug and Alcohol Services South Australia.
Our service is for any young person aged 12-24 years of age wanting to make change or develop a greater understanding around their substance use/misuse.
Sobering up facilities and AOD counselling are free of charge. The Alban Place residential rehabilitation program has a small cost used to contribute to program expenses.
