Education Programs with Power Community Limited

Centacare has partnered with Power Community Limited, the not-for-profit arm of the Port Adelaide Football Club and Department for Education, to provide high school students with educational programs designed to foster healthy and respectful relationships.

Power to End Violence Against Women and Empowered use the power of elite Australian Rules Football as a hook to start conversations with year 10 students about domestic violence and challenge gender-based norms that can lead to abuse.

Power to End Violence Against Women (PTEVAW)

Designed specifically for year 10 students as a primary prevention program, PTEVAW promotes healthy, respectful relationships and gender equality.

Developed in partnership with the Port Adelaide Football Club and the Department for Education, PTEVAW complements the Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum. Delivered by Power Community Limited and Port Adelaide Football Club players, it initiates conversations with male students about respectful relationships, addressing the underlying causes of gender-based violence and empowering them to become advocates for positive change in their schools, homes, and communities.

As an extension to the program, students can consolidate and share learnings at the Annual Leadership Day hosted by Power Community Ltd.

Empowered

Centacare has also collaborated with Port Adelaide Football Club and the Department for Education to develop Empowered, a program delivered by Port Adelaide AFLW players to female Year 10 students. Empowered aims to equip young women with the resources to understand healthy relationships, cultivate a positive sense of self and foster critical thinking about gender equity and family violence.

Participants are also offered the opportunity to attend an annual Empowering Women Leadership event, which features inspirational women from a range of industries to share their journeys and insights, motivating the next generation of female leaders.
