Supporting Children and Youth

Supporting Children and Youth (SCY) aim to nurture the mental health of young people living in regional South Australia through the work we do with families, individuals and schools. We strive to build resilience and help children up to 18 overcome challenges, focusing on those showing early signs or at risk of mental health concerns.

About our service

Based at Murray Bridge, we provide early intervention mental health support for young people. We do this through one to one support which can be accessed through our office or through in-reach to local schools. Our team of Family Practitioners will also deliver evidence based group sessions on site to schools within our funding area.

This service is funded by Department of Social Services as Family Mental Health Support Services.

Our supports

Our outreach service provides three levels of support including;

  • Intensive, long term, early intervention support including therapeutic group work based on a Family Action Plan, providing whole-of-family support to improve child well-being.
  • Short-term  information, referral and assistance for families and carers seeking advice on available supports or current situations of their children.
  • Community outreach including mental health promotion and education as well as links to wider community. We aim to increase local capacity to identify, understand and respond to the mental health needs of children and young people across our community.

Eligibility

Our service is for young people aged up to 18 years of age living in the Murray and Mallee areas of South Australia. A formal mental health diagnosis is not required to receive support from our program, nor does a diagnosis preclude anyone from receiving support.

Cost

Our SCY program is provided FREE of charge.

Referrals

We accept:

  • self-referrals,
  • referrals from local schools,
  • referrals from clinical and non-clinical service providers,
  • referrals from family members and friends.

Locations
