Hannah Place

Hannah Place provides support and on-site accommodation for six young women, aged up to 18, who are pregnant or parenting, to help maintain the bond between mother and baby.

About our service

Young people are offered on site housing with case management support, advice and advocacy towards pregnancy and parenting, personal growth and daily living skills working towards independence.

This service is funded by Department of Child Protection.

Our supports

Each young woman will have her own self-contained unit.  Staff provide daily support with pregnancy and parenting, guidance to maintain a household, information, referrals and advocacy. Groups are run in conjunction with specialist visiting services and sessions cover topics of interest for young women, such as healthy relationships, parenting, wellbeing, cooking and crafts. 

Eligibility

Our service is for young women aged up to 18 years, who are eligible if they fall under the following categories: 

• Under Guardianship of the Chief Executive.
• Working towards reunification with their child.
• At imminent risk of having a child removed from their care.
• Pregnant and the unborn child is identified to be high risk pregnant and the unborn child is identified to be high risk.
• At imminent risk of homelessness.
• In inappropriate living arrangements.
• In need of parenting support and stability.

Referrals

Young women referred to the service must also demonstrate a willingness to participate in the service, understand its purpose and requirements and work towards living independently with their child.

Referrals may come from:

• Department for Child Protection staff (please contact Matching & Allocation with a detailed support plan).
• Community Service agencies (please contact Hannah Place with a detailed support plan).
• Referring agencies will continue to support the young women they refer as long as they are accommodated with Hannah Place.
• Referrals can be accepted statewide.
