About our service

Safe at Home provides free home safety audits and upgrades for women experiencing or at risk of domestic or family violence. Our goal is to support women to remain safely in their home or a home of their choosing.

This service is funded by Department for Human Services.

Our supports

Safe at Home can provide and pay for safety audits and security upgrades to your home, whether it’s your current home or a new home you’re moving to.

These upgrades may include:

  • alarms,
  • duress buttons,
  • locks and screens,
  • technology audits,
  • other security measures.

You will work with a specialist worker to decide what will make you feel the safest in your home.

Eligibility

You can access Safe at Home services if you identify as female and are not living with the person putting your safety at risk, and your safety is at risk because you:

  • are (or are at risk of) experiencing violence now; or
  • have experienced domestic or family violence in the past.

You can be renting in public or community housing or be in own your home. Some elements of the service may be dependent on owners’ approval.
